Physical Access

VEKAM Ankara State Conservatory (Music Teachers College) Documents Collection materials are present in the archive room. Researchers are not allowed to access the original materials.

Administrative/Biographic History

The collection was brought into the archive by purchasing. The collection materials were firstly sorted out for the pre-conservation process. The student applications, the first group of the collection, were inventoried by Nalan Aslıhan Tarakçı. Than the inventoried materials were put into a detailed conservation process by Conservator Ceyda Cüceloğlu to be digitalized and open to access. After this process, the student applications of 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937 were digitalized (outsource) and transferred to CONTENTdm Content Management System by Nalan Aslıhan Tarakçı. The conservation process of the student applications of 1937 is continuing. The conservation process of the institutional correspondences and other materials will start as soon as the work on student applications are completed.

Note on Scope and Context

The collection consists of student applications and institutional correspondences. The collection materials are providing important insight into the modern education processes of the period between 1925 and 1956. The digitalization process of the archive materials in the collection continues. The student applications of the 1934-1937 period are accessible online.

Registrations are organized according to VEKAM Library and Archive Unit’s original order and provenance norms.

Classification, inventory and conservation processes are still ongoing in the collection.


Processing Notes

Digitalization

The digitalization process was carried out by outsourcing. All the archive materials were digitalized in 300 dpi and TIFF format. Digitalized materials were transferred to CONTENTdm content management system in JPEG format and brought to use. The digitalizing process is continuing simultaneously with the conservation process.
