Advisor Biography: Sinan Kaya

Sinan Kaya received his BA from Boğaziçi University, Department of History in 2013, then he completed his master’s degree in Department of History at İstanbul 29 Mayıs University with his thesis “Sultan Abdülaziz’s Egypt Travel in 1863” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Akyıldız. Sinan Kaya currently continues his doctoral study at the same university under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Akyıldız, focusing on the economic, social and investment relations between the center and the provinces in the Ottoman Empire, and he works as a PhD researcher in a project funded by TÜBİTAK and led by Dr. Semih Çelik at Koç University.

Advisor Biography: Mesut Sayan

Mesut Sayan graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of History in 2013. In 2016 he completed his master thesis titled “Boron Mine Management in Karesi Sanjak (1865-1887)” in the Department of Contemporary History, Marmara University under the supervision of Dr. Ali KARACA. He currently continues his PhD study which he started in 2017, in the Department of History at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. İlhan ŞAHİN, focusing on the mining companies in Balikesir Balya region in the Ottoman Empire and the effects of these companies on the region.
